Before starting your interior painting project, we carefully cover and protect your flooring in the areas in which we are working. We cover and protect your furniture throughout the project to keep it safe. (We may ask you to remove small knick-knacks prior to our arrival to avoid accidents, and in some cases have furniture already moved prior to our arrival).
Then, once everything is protected, we begin the prep work.
Some areas may require priming before we can start to paint. There are many forms of primers we use, and each has a specific purpose or attribute. Each primer is selected based upon the conditions we encounter. We prime to seal water or smoke stains, or to seal knots on trim and deter further bleeding.
Also, we may prime bare wood. Some primers may be used to help with adhesion in areas with peeling or flaking problems. Certain primers are needed to fill porous walls and create an even sheen on washable topcoats, while others may be tinted to form a base for proper coverage with many deeper wall color selections.
Trim is caulked and puttied as needed. We may use an adhesive caulking if we feel an area needs some extra support. Trim will also be lightly sanded prior to re-coating if it is necessary for adhesion due to a prior glossy finish, or to smooth out a prior coating. Also, we often wipe with a liquid de-glosser to further clean and prepare (especially if the older coating contains oil).
Once we are fully prepared and ready to begin the interior painting, we will provide the proper coating(s) to achieve the proper look and performance! (We can help in the color selection). You pick them, we'll paint them.
There are many different coatings for different situations that we can recommend when needed.
Please provide us with as much detail as possible.
